Staying in Cornwall
| Land's End |
|
Lands End is the western-most point in mainland England; a peninsula providing stunning vistas of the Atlantic Ocean. These include views of the Enys Dodman arched rock, an unusual formation just off Pordennack Point. A common misconception is that it is the souterly most point of mainland Britain, but that is Lizard point, (only 30 odd miles and – about 55 mins drive away.) The famous signpost at Land's End indicates the distances to various places in the world, including the 874 miles to John O'Groats the North-most point of mainland Britain. There are various attractions at Lands End including a theme park, exhibitions, audio-visual presentations, play areas, gift shops and cafes. The biggest draw of all though is undoubtedly the unique location and breathtaking views. Walks in either direction from the point reward you with continuing panoramas of natural beauty. |
