Duchy of Cornwall

A Duchy is defined as the territory ruled by a duke or duchess. The Duchy estate was created in 1337 by Edward III to provude income for his son and heir. The Duchy (or Dukedom) has been passed down since generations since.

The current Duchy of Cornwall is Prince Charles. He owns 51,885 hectares of land most of which is actually in Dartmoor in Devon. (The total area of Cornwall is about 356,300 hectares.) You can find more information on the Duchy of Cornwall website
